John Albanese on the D.L. Hansen Collection and its Trimes
It’s no longer a secret the D.L. Hansen Collection, quite possibly the finest collection of U.S. Coins ever to be assembled, is crossing over to CACG. We’re honored to have the privilege of grading and holdering these stunning coins. This is the first in a series of videos where we will be discussing the importance (and our admiration) of the D.L. Hansen collection.

Why is the D.L. Hansen Collection Crossing to CAC Grading?
According to Mr. Hansen himself:
“I want my coins graded with integrity. I am advocating for a more consistent process in which the grades cannot be artificially inflated through multiple grading submissions. Thus, I’ve chosen CAC Grading and am excited to start this process!” -D.L. Hansen
What’s more? CAC coins have a history of bringing a premium in the market. Our collector-friendly grading standards, which are in tune with what collectors are looking for, mean our coins are rewarded in the market; collectors want to own them.
But don’t take our word for it. Take a look at market results here.

1855 3CS – PR67CAM
The 1855 Proof Three Cent Silver is a very desirable rarity in the series with a mintage of just 50 coins. This issue is less attainable from PR60 through PR63. PR64 is exceedingly scarce with gems being extremely rare. Cameo pieces are extremely difficult to locate as only a handful exist. Look for attractive toners as this series has many.
1858 3CS – PR66CAM
The 1858 Proof Three Cent Silver is a very desirable rarity in the series with a low mintage of 100 coins and is scarce from PR60 through PR63. PR64 and PR65 are rare with higher-end gems being very rare. Cameo pieces are extremely difficult to locate for this issue as well.
1871 3CS – PR67+CAM
With a higher mintage for the series of 960 coins, this Proof Three Cent Silver Issue is an ideal type coin. This issue is largely attainable to collectors from grades ranging up to PR66, with the finest gems graded PR67 and higher. PR68 is very rare as only very few exist. Cameo pieces are difficult to locate regardless of grade and deep cameos are undisputed as a rarity.
