CACG Imaging

At CAC, we care about coins. That’s why we grade them consistently and accurately, but it’s also why we take great pride in providing top quality coin images. Every coin submitted (other than bulk) has an image taken of at least the front and back of the holder, and we make this image available on the Cert Look-up page as an added layer of security for potential buyers.

However, the images that most collectors really want are of the obverse and reverse of the coin. Every classic coin submitted on the Standard tier or higher receives high-resolution images as part of the service fee. Below is an example of the resulting Image Secure; as shown below, we provide the Image Secure file in both a light and dark version. The light version is available to anyone on the Cert Look-up page for that item, but the dark version is available only to the submitter.

Why does high quality imaging matter? #

From our perspective, here are a few benefits of having high-resolution images of your coins.

  • Presentation – Whether for the world to see or just for you, having your coins imaged and available to view wherever you go is the primary benefit of having your coin imaged. Clean, evenly lit, high-resolution photography elevates the perceived professionalism of a coin and its certification source.
  • Permanent visual documentation – A professionally imaged coin creates a fixed visual record at the time of grading. That record serves as a powerful reference point for future transactions, condition verification, and personal collection tracking. Over time, coins can tone, holders can scuff, and lighting conditions can vary. A high-quality image captured under controlled conditions preserves how the coin appeared when certified.
  • Value protection – Professional imaging also serves as a protective measure. In the event of loss, damage, or insurance claims, detailed photographs provide essential documentation. They help establish identity and condition, reinforcing the coin’s provenance.
  • Market liquidity – If you plan to sell your coins, those with accessible, professional images tend to move more efficiently in the secondary market. Dealers can list them quickly. Auction houses can promote them effectively. Collectors can share them across platforms. Imaging removes friction from the buying and selling process.

Uses of your CACG images #

In addition to the peace of mind gained from having your coins imaged, those images are used in a number of places in the CAC ecosystem, most notably the Registry. If you are not familiar with the Registry but would like to know more, feel free to get in touch with our Customer Care team. This is the place to sell you on our services.

Please contact our Customer Care team at help@cacgrading.com or 757-800-1750 if you have additional questions.
