Before sending your coins to CAC Grading (CACG), please take a moment to review this article. Following these preparation guidelines will help us process your submissions smoothly and handle your coins with care once they arrive.
Accepted Coins #
CAC Grading accepts a broad range of coins for Grading services. In addition to most U.S. coinage, we now grade Canadian coins and select other world coins. We encourage submitters to review the Coins Accepted list in advance to confirm that their coins qualify before submitting them.
If you have questions about a coin that is not specifically listed, or if you are unsure whether a coin is eligible for Grading services, we recommend contacting us before submitting.
Coins Submitted in Holders
- CAC Grading now accepts several coin sizes including GSA holders, select 2 oz, 5oz, and 1kg coins. Coins must be submitted in holders that are appropriate for their size and type, and we request that all different sized holders are submitted on separate submission forms as discussed further in the Separate Submission Forms section below.
- The only third-party grading services we accept for our Crossover service are PCGS and NGC. If a coin from another third-party grading service is submitted (ANACS, ICG, etc.), that submission will immediately be put on hold and possibly returned.
- Please avoid submitting coins in damaged, heavily worn, or non-standard holders, as these can make safe handling during grading difficult.
Separate Submission Forms #
In order to provide the best and most efficient service possible, we require that submissions containing different coin types are submitted on separate submission forms. Submitting multiple coin types on one submission form may result in delays or rejection. Below are some common examples of the different coin types that should be separated.
Vintage v. Modern coins
Modern (coins minted after 1964) and vintage coins (coins minted 1964 and earlier) must be submitted separately, as required for all CAC Grading submissions. Combining modern and vintage coins in the same submission may lead to processing delays.
U.S. v. World coins
When submitting vintage coins (coins minted 1964 or earlier) that we accept for Grading services, please be sure to keep U.S. coins separate from coins minted by other countries.
Different sized coins and holders (2oz, 5oz, etc.)
Oversized coins (2oz. and larger) and coins submitted in GSA hard packs should all be submitted separately from each other and from coins that fit into a standard sized holder.
Example Breakdown
By way of example, here is a list of coins that, if you were to submit just one of each, they should all be on their own submission form:
- 1884-O Morgan $1
- 1882-CC Morgan $1 in GSA hard pack
- 1937 Canadian Matte 10c
- 2026 American Silver Eagle
- 2019-W America the Beautiful 25c (5oz coin)
Submission Review & Shipping #
Though not directly related to the topic of ‘coins accepted’, we also recommend a thorough review of your submissions before shipping them. Specifically, before packing your shipping box, please be sure to review your submission forms for any issues or errors, and confirm all coins on the forms are present and accounted for. Once confirmed, be sure to take care in packing, shipping, and insuring your submission(s) to us. We have a detailed Shipping Instructions article that you can review if this is your first time…or if, perhaps, you’d just like a refresher.
If you should have any questions about this article or how to submit with us, please email us at help@cacgrading.com or call us at 757-800-1750.
