In July 2026, CAC-graded (CACG) and CAC-approved (Stickered) coins were favored at auction and performed well in online sales. From the selection of auction sales sampled here, the premium on CAC coins ranged from 25% to 356%, indicating the additional value brought about by CAC’s grading standards. These premiums are indicative of CAC coins, whether CACG or Stickered, consistently bringing higher premiums than their non-CAC counterparts.
The largest premium and highest sale price realized in July were both on a 1924 Saint Gaudens $20 graded by CACG as MS67. Bringing over $47,300 and a 356% premium over a non-CAC coin of the same grade, this coin is one of only two Saints of this date to ever receive a grade of MS67 from CACG, and there are none graded higher. This result along with the others noted here answers “why CAC?”
1924 Saint Gaudens $20 – MS67
Only two 1924 $20 gold coins have been CACG-graded MS67, and not one has been graded higher. Only 28 have CAC stickers at the MS67 level among the hundreds of thousands of 1924 double eagles that survive.
On July 5, GreatCollections sold one of the two CACG-graded MS67 1924 $20 gold coins for $47,300. On July 16, Heritage auctioned a PCGS graded MS-67 1924 $20 gold coin, without a CAC sticker, for $10,370. On June 16, Stack’s Bowers auctioned a different PCGS-graded MS67 1924 $20 gold coin, without a CAC sticker, for $14,030.
1941 Mercury 10c – PR67+
On July 1, Stack’s Bowers sold a CACG-certified Proof 67+ 1941 dime for $1,037. On April 22, Stack’s Bowers sold an NGC-certified Proof 67+ 1941 dime, without a CAC sticker, for $414.80.
1924-D Standing Liberty 25c – MS66
On July 1, Stack’s Bowers sold a CACG-graded MS66 1924-D quarter for $1,037. The day before, on June 30, Heritage sold a PCGS MS66 1924-D quarter, without a CAC sticker, for $701.50.
1938-D Buffalo 5c – MS67+
On July 5, DLRC sold a CACG-graded MS67+ 1938-D Buffalo nickel for $600. On June 22, Stack’s Bowers sold two NGC-graded MS67+ 1938-D Buffalo nickels, neither of which had a CAC sticker, and each brought $390.40. On May 5, Heritage sold a different NGC-graded MS67+ 1938-D Buffalo, without a CAC sticker, for $378.20.
1921 Peace $1 – MS65
On July 17, Heritage auctioned a CACG-graded MS65 1921 Peace silver dollar for $6,710. On July 26, GreatCollections sold two PCGS-graded MS65 1921 Peace dollars, neither of which had a CAC sticker, for $4,620 and $2,825.90, respectively. Also on July 26, GreatCollections sold an NGC-graded MS65 1921 Peace dollar, without a CAC sticker, for $2,720.30. Earlier, on July 8, Heritage sold a PCGS-graded MS65 1921 Peace dollar, without a CAC sticker, for $3,050.
1875-CC 20c – F15
On July 19, GreatCollections sold a CAC-graded Fine 15 1875-CC Twenty-Cent piece for $810.70. On April 19, GreatCollections sold a PCGS-graded Fine 15 1875-CC Twenty-Cent piece, without a CAC sticker, for $589.60.
1918-S Mercury 10c – MS66FB
On July 26, DLRC sold a CACG graded MS70 1989 silver eagle $1 coin for $1,125. Heritage sold an NGC-graded MS70 1989 silver eagle for $512.40 on April 8, and a different NGC-graded MS70 1989 silver eagle for $640.50 on Feb. 9.
1863 Liberty Seated 25c – MS66
On July 5, DLRC sold a CAC-approved MS66 grade 1863 quarter for $11,010. On Feb. 8, GreatCollections sold a PCGS-graded MS66 1863 quarter, without a CAC sticker, for $8,806.60.
1878-CC Morgan $1 – MS63
On July 15, Stack’s Bowers sold a CAC-approved MS63-graded 1878-CC Morgan silver dollar for $854. On July 22, Heritage sold a PCGS graded MS63 1878-CC Morgan, without a CAC sticker, for $573.40. On July 16, Heritage sold a CAC-Approved, PCGS-certified Proof 67 1936 half dollar for $9,150. On May 24, GreatCollections sold a PCGS-certified Proof 67 1936 half dollar, without a CAC sticker, for $6,890.40.
1943 Lincoln 1c – MS67
On July 26, at 4:17:45 Pacific Time, GreatCollections sold a CAC-approved MS67-graded 1943 Lincoln cent for $308. Three seconds later, GreatCollections sold an NGC-graded MS67 1943 Lincoln cent, without a CAC sticker, for $95.58. On July 19, GreatCollections sold a PCGS-graded MS67 1943 Lincoln cent, without a CAC sticker, for $143, and another NGC-graded MS67 1943 Lincoln cent, without a CAC sticker, which brought $126.50.
