Description
The 1936 Bridgeport, Connecticut, centennial marks the 100th anniversary of the historic seaport city in the Constitution State. The Bridgeport half dollar, designed by Henry Kreis, is carried by an obverse bust of one of Connecticut's most famous residents, Phineas Taylor Barnum. He is famous for many things, including his years in politics and his cofounding of the Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Bridgeport half dollars were sold for $2 each and are fairly common in most grades, though pieces grading MS67 are relatively rare. The art-deco eagle on the reverse has a large, flat surface on its wing, and this section of the coin is highly susceptible to marks. Buyers should pay close attention to the wing when inspecting coins for purchase. Luster and overall eye appeal on this coin is usually pretty good.
