The 1945-S Micro S is a popular last-year variety for the Mercury dime series, with the S mintmark on these pieces comparatively smaller than those on the regular 1945-S Mercury dimes. Aside from the sizes of the S mintmarks, the Micro S mintmark also has much sharper-edged serifs than the more bulbous serifs as seen on the normal 1945-S mintmark.
The 1945-S Micro S Mercury dime is a common coin in circulated grades and available in significant quantities through MS67. Full Bands specimens aren’t necessarily rare as a group, though for the 1945-S Micro S they are scarce in grades higher than MS66. Pieces grading higher than MS67FB are extremely rare.
