The 1896 Morgan dollar from the Philadelphia Mint is extremely common in all grades through about MS66, scarce in MS67, and extremely rare in MS68. PLs and DMPLs are scarcer than their typical MS counterparts but are by no means rare as a group for this date. The 1896 Morgan dollar is generally found well struck though often with less-than-frosty luster.
