The 1918-D is one of the great condition rarities of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar Series surpassed by only the 1919-D and 1921-S. It is a much tougher date to locate in all grades and takes a dramatic leap into extreme rarity in gem condition. Gems come with either satiny white luster or susceptibility to toning like the Philadelphia Mint issue of this date. The finest known grade is MS66 which is very rare.
