As the year 1945 marked the end of the Mercury series, the 1945-S was thus the last San Francisco issue for this type, too. The 1945-S Mercury dime is a common coin though not unremarkable, as this last-year S-mint issue saw two types of S mintmarks, including examples sporting a normal S mintmark and a scarcer variety with a much smaller S mintmark. 1945-S dimes with the normal S mintmark and Full Bands details is widely available through MS66 and becomes scarce in the grade of MS67 and higher.
