The 1878 was only minted as a proof with production halted on business strikes. Lower mintage of 2,350 coins (highest in the series, thus far) of which most were saved, making this issue scarce but very accessible. Scarce in all grades and a rarity as a high-end gem. Gradually tougher with cameo surfaces and deep cameo surfaces, as well, which are very rare.
