The 1926-D is one of the major rarities of the Saint-Gaudens series, with fewer than 500 or so estimated to survive across all grades. Most are known in uncirculated grades, though most of these are clustered in the MS60-62 range, with even MS63s proving quite rare. Pieces grading MS65 or higher are virtually elusive and have been publicly offered on only rare occasions over the years.
