The 1909-S Saint-Gaudens is a common coin in circulated and lower uncirculated grades, though Gems are scarce. They were much scarcer years ago, until the discovery of a South American hoard in 1983. Some specimens exhibit rounded rims, while Gems are well struck and usually offer rather frosty surfaces.
