This restrike issue is certainly few and far between but is not quite as scarce as its original issue counterpart. The restrike version variety of the 1842 Proof Half Cent is of the Braided Hair design on the obverse and far smaller berries on the reverse. There are also some other reverse diagnostics to tell it apart from the original. The mintage was composed of just 27 coins in total of which it is estimated that all have survived. Overall, this is just a very scarce type worth anywhere between four thousand to over thirty thousand dollars depending on the grade.
