Description
The 1922 Grant half dollar is one of the earlier silver entries in the United States commemorative series and is also one of the most popular of all issues from the traditional commemorative issue. The coin, designed by Laura Gardin Fraser, honors the 100th birth anniversary of American soldier and 18th president Ulysses S. Grant in 1822.

Distributed in large numbers, the Grant half dollar is common in the circulated and lower Mint State grades but quite scarce in Gem condition. This is largely due to relatively few examples being saved early on; many larger-denomination commemorative coins predating the Great Depression were spent when times became tough. While scarce, MS65s and MS66s can be had for a price, though pieces grading MS67 or higher are rare.
