The 1916-S Saint-Gaudens $20 is one of the most common of the earlier mintmarked issues of the series. This has become the case most especially since about 1983, when a cache of high-grading examples were located in South America. Quality is the rule rather than the exception with 1916-S $20s, and the coin is common right through the grade of MS65. Any pieces grading MS66 or higher are considered rare.
