While all CC-mint Morgan dollars are considered categorically scarce, the 1880-CC is among the more common of Carson City issues. Many came to light upon their release from Treasury vaults in the 1960s, though due to the popularity of CC Morgan dollars, relative demand is still high enough to push prices upward and beyond what the more common 1880 issues from Philadelphia, San Francisco, and New Orleans issues normally command. PLs and DMPLs are scarcer than their more ordinary MS counterparts but are available for a price at least through MS64, above which they become challenging.
